Gardens By The Bay MRT Station is an upcoming underground Mass Rapid Transit station on the Thomson-East Coast Line in Singapore. It will be located around Gardens by the Bay and Marina Barrage.
The station serves as a terminus of the Thomson-East Coast Line from 2021 to 2022, where it would be replaced by Bayshore as the fourth phase of the line opens.
Gardens by the Bay station is one of the two MRT stations in Singapore to have an official Malay name. The other station is the Botanic Gardens MRT Station.
History[]
This station was first announced on 29 August 2012.
The construction of the Gardens by the Bay and the tunnels have been awarded to Nishimatsu Construction Pte Ltd - Bachy Soletanche Pte Ltd, at a contract sum of $331 million on 25 July 2014. Nishimatsu Construction Co., Ltd is an established construction company in Japan and is currently involved in the construction of tunnels between Downtown Line’s Ubi and Kaki Bukit stations. Their local joint venture partner, Bachy Soletanche Singapore, specializes in geotechnical and civil engineering works.
Together with Woodlands, Lentor, Mayflower, Bright Hill and Mount Pleasant stations, Gardens by the Bay station will serve as the sixth Civil Defence shelter along the Thomson Line.
