The station is designed with a traditional Malay roof structure and shape, but using modern materials such as steel beams, similar to that of the Eunos Bus Interchange. This is to provide a sense of identity to the area, as Eunos bus interchange lies close to Geylang Serai and the Malay Village.
This station, as well as Tanah Merah station, has a different style of architecture from other stations on the eastern part of the East West Line which feature white round semicircular roofs.
On December 4, 2000, Monday at 8.15 am, a 70 year old Chinese man was run over by an east-bound train travelling at about 40 km/h. Singapore Civil Defence Force paramedics found the man lying in a foetal position between the tracks. His face and head were covered with blood, his neck was fractured and his hands bruised. He was unconscious but still breathing when taken to Changi General Hospital, where he arrived at 9.10 am but died about 15 minutes later. MRT staff escorted the 600-odd commuters on the train off the platform at Eunos and cordoned off the part of the station where the incident happened. Voltage carried by the third rail adjoining one of the two rail tracks was shut off as a safety measures, just before rescue operations. East-bound services between Aljunied to Tanah Merah were suspended for about 40 minutes from 8.16 am, but Eunos remained open, so that city-bound traffic was unaffected during rush hour.
As with most of the above-ground stations along the East West Line, it was built without platform screen doors. The installation of half-height platform screen doors started on 5 October 2010 and operations started on 16 December 2010. This station is installed with MJ Air Tech High Volume, Low Speed (HVLS) Pro-Jet fans and started operations on 11 September 2012 together with Queenstown.
Installation of a privacy screen from Eunos Road 5 to Eunos Road 2 began in January 2017 and was completed in July 2017. Cash top ups are no longer accepted at Passenger Service Centres from 1 September 2017.
